We had a wonderful stay at Hope Cottage. The listing description was accurate regarding the rentals appearance, amenities and location. The property was very clean and well maintained. The owner was very hospitable and helpful in answering all our questions - even calling to make sure everything was going well. We would and have recommended this property highly - we hope to return. We loved the location overlooking Oyster Bay - and found it convenient to Orient Bay as well as Marigot and Grand Case. Oyster Bay itself had 4 restaurants we liked and a little grocery store to buy coffee and fresh croissants and muffins.
My husband and I stayed at your home for our honeymoon and enjoyed every second. The view is amazing, the amenities were perfect and we enjoyed swimming in the pool. We will for sure recommend Hope Cottage to others.
I’m a chef in Minneapolis, so we loved the well-appointed kitchen…Grilled many nights & ate on the veranda almost every meal.
It is truly a wonderful think that you are sharing this very private villa…We loved the pool! Making a point of taking a dip at least once each day.
Irene and I would like to take this opportunity to tell you what a fabulous time we had in St Martin, and especially at your place! The view overlooking the ocean was breathtaking! Our accommodations exceeded our expectations! I grieved that we had to come back to "reality" and leave! Please post this to your web site!!! We want everyone to know how awesome Hope Cottage is!!! Thank You!
Once we stayed at Hope Cottage we were hocked. We’ve returned five times. Hope Cottage has become our favorite spot in the Caribbean. While my wife can sleep as late as she likes because the shutters keep the bedroom dark, I awaken, make coffee and enjoy breakfast and view on the deck next to the private pool. When she gets up we read or play Scrabble until driving a short distance to a beach or Philipsburg. Marigot and Grand Case are a bit further. Hope Cottage is convenient, relaxing and beautiful. There are many wonderful restaurants nearby. The only thing we miss is that before the Westin Hotel was built, Dawn Beach had a wonderful beach bar named Scavenger’s. We’ve recommended it to friends.
We were blessed to be able to come to Hope Cottage for our Honeymoon. We loved the amazing view and its tucked away location…We hope to come back to this cottage in the future. Thank you for a honeymoon paradise.

St. Maarten has a truly duty free status with no import and export taxes and a large array of shops offering a wide selection of the finest luxury duty free goods the world has to offer.
Known as the Gastronomical capital of the Caribbean, St. Maarten’s 37 square miles are home to over 400 restaurants catering to every whim and palate. See our Owner’s Tips here.
John – My father was born on the neighboring island of Saba in Hope Cottage, thus the villa’s name although it can hardly be described as a cottage despite its having just one bedroom. I thought that it would be nice to have access to a vacation home readily accessible to New England, Eastern Canada, England and France. Now that I am retired, we try to take two annual vacations in Hope Cottage, six weeks in the summer and six weeks before Sint Maarten’s High Season.
Susan – I was born in the UK and married John in 1973. We designed Hope Cottage as a vacation getaway readily accessible from the south of France where my daughter lives. Now that we are retired, I love our visits to Hope Cottage, during the summer when I get to spend quality time with my daughter and in the autumn when I can entertain our Dutch friends with an American Thanksgiving dinner for twelve…not bad for a microwave/convection oven.
Joelle – I was born in the south of France and live just south of Grasse, famed for its perfumes with my two children, Lloyd and Lula, also born in France. I really look forward to my annual visit with my family in Hope Cottage especially with my new bathroom, which is really cool. Summer is so nice on the island.
